Community Enterprise Clinic 

The Community Enterprise Clinic (CEC) represents small businesses, entrepreneurs, and nonprofit organizations in the Greater Boston area, if the client cannot afford private legal help.  The CEC can assist with the following types of issues:

 

  • Entity formation

  • Bylaws and corporate governance

  • Applications to the IRS for tax exemption

  • Filing and reporting responsibilities

  • Employment and independent contractor classification

  • Trademark and copyright registration and protection

  • Nondisclosure and non-compete agreements

  • Terms of service and privacy policies

  • Lease negotiation

  • Regulation, permits, and licenses

 

The CEC will also represent first-time home buyers or affordable housing developers in real estate closings.


The CEC does not become involved in disputes or litigation.


CEC represents Massachusetts-based businesses only. We operate on a fall/spring semester basis and usually assess our client roster in August and January. We do not accept new clients between May–August. If the clinic is full, you will be added to our waitlist and contacted when a spot opens.
